Minnesota Attorney General Lori Swanson was named one of the top 10 attorneys in
the United States last week by Lawyers USA. The publication cited her office's
lawsuit against the National Arbitration Forum on behalf of consumers over the
issue of credit card arbitration. Swanson claimed the forum worked behind the
scenes with creditors and debt collectors. As a result of the suit, the forum
agreed to cease its credit card arbitration business (without admitting blame).
Swanson is in heady company. Also on the list is Sonia Sotomayor, the first
Latina to sit on the U.S. Supreme Court.
